Circle of Moms- July 11, 2009 Great commentary asking about my parenting style, challenges and rewards. Below is a snippet of the article.
Brooke Stockton's 20 Questions
1. How old were you when your first child was born? 23
2. What month and year was your youngest child born? July 19, 1996
3. How did you feel when you first found out you were pregnant? SCARED!!!!
4. Who did you tell first? My husband
5. How many pounds did you gain during your first pregnancy? I hate to admit... 50lbs!
6. What did you crave while you were pregnant? Cake. You name it, birthday cake, anniversary cake, wedding cake, cake cake cake!!! Hence the 50lbs!
7. Did you find out the gender of your first child? Why or why not? Yes. We weren't going to but a medical emergency required an amneosenticisis to be done and we found out with the results.
8. Did you have any complications during your pregnancy? No
9. How much did your first child weigh? 8.6
10. Was your first child early, late, or on time? early
11. What is the most difficult challenge or health issue that any of your children have faced? I have been blessed that none of them have had any major trauma. Alex has been in the hospital the most with cases of injuries. (broken arm, broken collar bone, etc)
12. What's your favorite part of being a mom? Watching how diverse my boys can be!
13. Do you think it's easier to be a mom or a dad? It don't think either way. I think each being a mom and being a dad hold special values in raising kids.
14. What is the best piece of advice you could give to someone who is about to have their first child? Pick your battles! Not everything in life is easy and least of it, raising kids. Don't be controlling, don't try to pick their friends, and don't forget to LISTEN!!!
15. Did you always think you'd have kids? Yes! Always wanted a girl...God blessed me with 3 boys instead!
16. What's been the biggest surprise about motherhood? Knowing that I can let go. I raised them right, taught them morals and now I can feel good about letting them explore on their own. (But I still have that magical 3rd eye always watching out!) lol
17. Are there things you miss about life before kids? Not at all. My kids are my life!
18. How many children do you have? 3
19. Do you plan to have any more children? NO
20. Who's the mom that you admire most? Sharon Skoczek. My mom.
